about

Resist, due out April 10, 2020 via Irabagast Records, unites Grdina’s long-standing trio with his East Van Strings quartet, joined by acclaimed saxophonist Jon Irabagon for a remarkable new suite blending progressive jazz and classical influences

“The prevailing ambience is one of dark mystery, but the ruggedness of Grdina’s tone makes for
a palette of rich contrast.” – David R. Adler, JazzTimes (review of Think Like the Waves)

“[Gordon Grdina is] a player of unbridled musical ingenuity.” – Raul da Gama, World Music Report

Resistance comes in many forms. For Vancouver-based guitarist and oud player Gordon Grdina, standing up to the corruption and divisive rhetoric that dominates the political conversation today takes the form of bringing a diverse range of people together to create beauty for beauty’s sake. With Resist, due out April 10, 2020 from Irabagast Records, Grdina bridges a number of worlds with an ambitious and passionate new suite of music.
